When we started building LONA, we knew we wanted the brand to feel connected not just to the land that inspired it — but to the artists who share that same pull toward freedom, movement, and the mythology of the West.
That’s what drew us to Australian rodeo artist, Jakey Pedro.
Jakey grew up in Noosa Heads before working as a blue-collar plasterer — eventually trading construction tools for oil paint and canvas. Today, he paints from his studio on Sydney’s northern beaches, creating bold, expressive works that have quickly become favorites among collectors both in Australia and abroad.
Jakey’s paintings are unmistakable: loose, energetic lines, washed-out fluorescent pigments, and recurring symbols of cowboys, horses, and rodeo life. Influenced by artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Julian Schnabel, his work blends raw expression with playful metaphor — capturing the independence and motion that define life out West.
For this collaboration, Jakey reimagined one of his signature riders for LONA, surrounding the cowgirl with playful florals and desert-toned washes that echo the landscapes that inspired the brand.
The result became the LONA x Jakey Pedro Bandana — a small piece of art designed to be worn, shared, and carried with you.
Because the West isn’t just a place. It’s a mindset.
